On the weekend of October 3 and 4, Steve Garnaas-Holmes, retired minister, poet, and author is coming to Dennis Union Church. He will lead a workshop on prayer Saturday, and will preach and lead worship on Sunday, October 4. The workshop on Saturday is set for 10 am – 2:30 pm with a light lunch at noon. We are sure to have our hearts nourished and our spiritual practices of prayer expanded. Mark your calendars and reserve your place at the workshop by calling the church office at 508-385-3543 or emailing office@duchurch.org.
About the workshop (in Steve’s own words):
Why do we pray? (Do we have to?) And what exactly are we doing when we pray? When I pray for something, can I make it happen? No? Why not? Well, then, what is actually happening? What do I do when I feel like I want to pray but I really don’t have the first idea what to say? How do I write a prayer that’s not just a note to myself? On Saturday we’ll ponder these questions—and others you have, with some reflection time, some sharing, and some open space to let your heart wander where it wants.
