Choirs

Chancel Choir – Directed by Maggie Bossi, the chancel choir includes men and women and sings many Sundays of the year. Music for special services energizes worship in many different ways, from the meditative on Maundy Thursday to the raucous on Jazz Sunday. The Chancel Choir joins with Women’s Song and DUC Singers for the annual “Cabaret” music show. Regular rehearsals are Wednesdays at 7pm.

Women’s Song – Directed by Bette Anne Crowell, Women’s Song offers a “part-time” choral experience to members and friends. This choir usually sings on the second Sunday of the month alternating with DUC Singers. Rehearsing on the Monday before each Sunday the choir sings, they also hold extra rehearsals once a month to keep “tuned up” and review upcoming service music. Extras include singing in all-choir services for Christmas and Easter, the church’s “Cabaret” music show, and occasional special programs by request.

DUC Singers (Men) – Directed by Bette Anne Crowell, DUCS is a men’s four-part musical group that sings six times during the year, usually on the second Sunday of the month plus the two additional all-choir Sundays at Christmas and Easter. Rehearsals are held three weeks prior to each Sunday. DUCS’ repertoire includes barbershop, a capella arrangements of familiar hymns, and gospel arrangements of traditional service music.

Bell Choir – Directed by Barbara Wells, the Bell Choir holds weekly Wednesday rehearsals at from 5:15-6:45pm and regular monthly participation in worship. The choir has three octaves of hand chimes and three octaves of hand bells, giving it a broad selection of music from which to choose.  Are you curious about hand bell ringing? Would you like to try your hand at the bells?  Reading music is helpful (not necessary), and a sense of rhythm is important. Contact Barbara at the church office at 508-385-3543.
